WSST Conference 2020 Canceled!
The COVID-19 has created an unusual and life-threatening situation. The Executive Committee of the WSST Board unanimously decided to cancel our 2020 WSST conference because of the myriad cancellations and policies implemented for individuals regarding travel restrictions. All these restrictions are based upon sound recommendations from the Governor’s office, the CDC, and the WHO. The Wisconsin Department of Health Services Secretary Andrea Palm recommended Thursday (March 12, 2020) to cancel any events of more than 250 people to help contain the spread of the virus.
We will commence with refunding registration and associated conference fees in a short while. This will take time as I have never done something of this magnitude before. Please be patient. Thank you for understanding.

Discover how to integrate computer programming with children’s literature in this session designed for elementary teachers. This session will introduce elementary teachers to basic concepts in computer programming. During the interactive session, teachers will learn how to use graphic tiles to create a simple computer program using the Montessori-approved Cubetto system. Teachers will read a story, place action blocks in a story board, and watch Cubetto go! Cubetto teaches the basics of computer programming and STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) skills to young children without the use of a screen or the need to read. This session will help early childhood educators introduce young learners to logical thinking and computer programming through simple learning activities. The learning activities on computer programming can be used to teach and reinforce the Crosscutting Concepts of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), such as patterns (K-LS1-1, K-ESS2-1), systems (K-ESS2-2), and cause and effect (K-PS2-1-2, K-PS3-1-2).
